Some projects begin on a whiteboard.
Others, by chance.
The Bultaco Brinco was one of those stories that started with a coincidence — and a shared passion for making things work.
A date that keeps repeating
The 17th of May seems written into Bultaco’s DNA.
- 1912 – Paco Bultó was born.
- 1958 – Bultaco was founded.
- 2014 – the brand was reborn as Bultaco Motors.
That same year, while the press focused on the Rapitán prototype unveiled in London, another story was already unfolding quietly in the background.
At the end of 2014, in the airport of Stuttgart, the CEO of Guilera and the Business Manager of Bultaco crossed paths by chance.
A short talk, a handshake — and what followed became one of the most memorable engineering adventures we’ve been part of.
Since that day, we say there’s always an egg waiting for Stuttgart in this house 😉

When everything was still a secret
While Bultaco kept communicating openly about the Rapitán, both teams were already working in silence on a very different project: a light, playful, and electric machine that blurred the line between motorcycle and bicycle.
That project was the Brinco.
Our role was to design and manufacture the power controller, the electronic heart of the bike — responsible for managing torque delivery, regeneration, temperature protection, and riding modes.
To secure the launch date and meet commitments with early investors and factory employees who would receive the first units, the initial batch of 30 Brinco Limited Edition bikes featured a CNC-machined aluminum controller housing.
This temporary solution gave us the precision and turnaround time we needed before switching to cast housings for the main production run.
If you happen to own one of those early Brincos — between #1–29 or #34 — take good care of it. Each one was fine-tuned individually, and that machined housing makes it part of a very small club.
July 2015: when the Brinco hit the line
After months of testing, debugging, and riding in silence, the first Brincos rolled out of the Montmeló assembly line in late July 2015.
Only 175 units were made of the Limited Edition — a tribute to three dates forever linked to the brand:
- 17 (May) for Paco Bultó’s birthday,
- 17 (May) for the original Bultaco’s foundation,
- and 17 (May) for its rebirth in 2014.
It was a project full of emotion, improvisation, and long nights of engineering.
A beautiful madness we’re still proud of.
Looking back
The Brinco didn’t just mark Bultaco’s second era; it captured a moment when Spanish engineering dared to do something bold and unconventional.
For Guilera, it was another chance to do what we’ve always done best: design and manufacture electronics that just work — quietly, reliably, and built to last.
Although Bultaco is no longer in operation, at Guilera we’ve remained connected to the project.
We continue to manufacture replacement and upgraded control units, built upon the last production version and improved over time.
If you own a Brinco that needs servicing, or if your controller has failed and you don’t know where to start, get in touch.
We can advise you, repair your system, or supply a new control unit and wiring harness — made here, as we did from the beginning.
Because some stories don’t really end;
they just keep running, quietly, with every ride.
