Power electronics under vibration and temperature stress

Power electronics under vibration and temperature stress do not usually fail because of wrong calculations.

They are caused by mechanical fatigue and thermal stress.

In e-bikes, mopeds, motorcycles and heavy-duty machinery, power electronics under vibration operate in environments where:

  • vibration is continuous,
  • temperature changes constantly,
  • and load cycles are never stable.

Over time this leads to:

  • solder joint cracks,
  • package degradation,
  • changes in thermal resistance,
  • and drift in electrical behaviour.

A design that works on a static bench can fail in the field simply because the environment is different.

That is why at Guilera we do not only validate schematics.

We validate complete systems under vibration, temperature and dynamic load.

Before certification or pre-series, designs are tested using:

  • vibration benches,
  • climatic chambers,
  • and real-load testing.

This reveals progressive degradation that short tests do not show.

Reliability is not proven by a single measurement.

It is built by exposing the system to the stress it will see over its lifetime.
